Schnepf Farms

We had a great time this past weekend out at Schnepf Farms. We went with our friends Drew and Julia and their kids Kylie, Makayla and Ian. The kids had a great time riding the rides and picking out their favorite pumpkin. Julia made all the girls matching hair bows for the special day. They turned out so cute and it was easy to keep track of our kids with the black shirts and orange bows. They were the cutest kids there!!
Ian had fun hanging out in his stroller just going with the flow. He always has a smile on his face!

Kindergarten Writing

Yesterday Maddie brought a picture to me that she drew and wanted to show me what she had wrote at the top of it. When I first glanced at it I couldn't make out what it said. I asked her to tell me and then I realized what she was trying to do. I just thought this was very cute and wanted to share with you what she wrote. Maddie has been writing many words now but there are a lot she still dosen't know and her teacher of course does not just spell things for them she makes them sound it out. So this is a test to see if you can tell what she wrote. Just a hint...it is two words.
"APoPi"
Did you get it? The two words she was trying to write were...

"Apple Pie" If you got that right you get a gold star for today! I love this age! I think before long I too will be learning a whole new language:)

Rain Drops

We had to take Maddie to the doctor yesterday because she had been complaining that her left ear hurt. Well it turns out she has swimmers ear(ear infection). So the doctor put her on some ear drops. When daddy came home Morgan explained that Maddie had to get "raindrops" put in her ear to make it feel better! If only that worked:)!

Who'd A Thought?

So we decided to get Maddie and Morgan some goggles for swimming. Morgan has always been our fish but Maddie has taken a little bit longer to get comfortable in the water. She has been good at swimming with her head about water for probably a year now but never likes to get her face wet. UNTIL NOW! She put on her new goggles and it was like magic..she started swimming under the water and can even dive to get her swim sticks at the 3ft level. We are so proud of her and she is very excited about being able to do more in the pool.

We had a good time visiting with family for Labor Day. Shea and Elisabeth came down for the weekend and we had an Open House for them on Sunday so those who had not gotten to meet Michaela yet could stop by. Michaela is getting bigger and my girls can't get enough of her. Maddie wants to hold her constantly and Morgan is ready for her to come swimming with her.

Elisabeth discovered that Michaela likes her swing so they brought her portable one to Phoenix which worked out great. She is still a little fussy because she is having some issues with reflux. The doctor put her on Zantac last week so hopefully that will start working soon. I got to give her a bath today at grandma's and mom said she dosen't like her head washed however she seemed to really enjoy when I did it. I think she likes her Aunt Jenny!

Maddie's Independence

Well we are 7 days in to school starting and Maddie is adjusting to her new life as a Kindergarten. She came home on Friday and said she had made a friend with a little girl in her class named Rachel. She loves going to Art and Music class and says her favorite part of the day is lunch...that was always mine too! I have to tell you something funny that has been going on since she started school. I have been walking her up to the playground area where they line up in the mornings to go into their classroom. Well Maddie has been having some uneasiness about walking across the playground by herself to get in her line. I would have to get a playground teacher to walk her over before she had a meltdown. Well come to find out after talking with her this weekend she told me that she would do it by herself if I didn't watch and wave to her as she went in to class. So this whole time I thought she was being silly because she didn't want to leave me but in all actuality she just didn't want me to come with her and wave to her as she went into class. So this morning I asked her if she wanted me to just drop her off in the car line. She said yes so we drove up to the drop off spot and as she started walking away she just turned around and smiled like see mom I can do it! I wanted to start bawling on the spot and I still am not sure why. I think I was relieved in one way that she could do it by herself but it almost made me feel like she didn't need me anymore. Let me just tell all of you moms who have not done this yet...it is tougher for us than it is them.
This is Maddie on her playgound..Day 2 of Kindergarten
If you look hard enough you can see Maddie at the front of her line. The other kids are about a half a foot taller at least. I think some look like they could be starting second grade.

First Day of School

Well today was the day I had been dreading for a long time. Madison started Kindergarten at Mercury Mine Elementary School. The day started off good. She picked out what she wanted to wear which was a shirt Grandma Rita bought her because it had an embroidered bird on it. She also wore some cute bermuda shorts that luckily had the adjustable waist band inside so she didn't have to worry about messing with a belt. She seemed very excited about going to school and helped me get her lunch box together last night. When we arrived at school she walked into her classroom and sat right down at her desk. She sits with two other boys, the little girl at her table did not show up today. The teacher then had them all sit down on a big rug which Madison was a little bit hesitant to do. She finally did sit down and raised her hand when she was suppose to for roll call. At the end of that time we then had to say our final goodbyes so that they could go on a tour of the school while the PTG spoke to the parents. I was doing really good until I gave Madison a kiss on her hand (told to do by teachers because they were going to read them a story later that related to that kiss) she started to cry. I gave her a hug and told her it wouldn't be long before I picked her up and then I just kind of pushed her into the line. As she was waiting to go out with the other kids the teacher noticed she was upset and came over and gave her a big hug. That made me feel so much better!! She wasn't the only one who had some tears. There was another little girl named Emma who was not thrilled about this whole school thing. Her dad had to push her out the door and close it behind him all the while she is kicking and screaming. It really does just make your heart break. I left the school feeling like I left a part of me behind. It was a long two hours waiting for her to get out of school. Luckily for me she only has to go a half day until Thursday at which time she will start going all day. When I finally did get to pick her up she was all smiles and said she had a lot of fun! I know she is going to do great and I am excited to see all of her new accomplishments that lie ahead.
